Location and How to Get to This Specific Site

The mountain is part of the Pacific Range North Shore Mountains in British Columbia, Canada. It is 15 minutes away by car from Vancouver. It is at the North Vancouver District, 6400 Nancy Greene Way, North Vancouver, BC.

Go to Georgia Street up to Stanley Park and the ridge of Lion’s Gate. Go to the exit at North Vancouver at Marine Drive. Drive left to Capilano Road Keep driving until you get to the site. This means driving for about 3 miles.

What to See There

Visitors to the park can avail of the Grouse Mountain Skyride and see the Refuge for Endangered Wildlife. During the winter, there are skiing activities and snowshoeing. There are also mountaintop eco walks.

The snowboard area includes chairlifts, a couple of which are high speed quads. The Cut is the most popular run on the mountain. A trip to Grouse Mountain almost always includes a visit to the Grouse Grind, a challenging but very popular trail.

History

The first lodge on the mountain was built in the 1920s by Scandinavians. They placed planks on the area that would become known as the Grouse Grind trail.

Sometime in the 1930s, a toll road was created at the top by way of the Cut which was just a slope then. The Cut’s bottom is the mountain’s base. Several cabins would be built there, so the locals began calling it the Village.

Cost

The general admission fee for adults is $39.95. For people 65 years old and above, it is $35.85. For youths (13 to 18), it is $23.95. The fee for children 5 to 12 is $13.95. Children four years old and below can enter for free. All prices are in Canadian Dollars.

Keep in mind the fees are subject to change. There are season passes and memberships that may offer discounts. Some of the other activities may require extra fees. If you are using a travel tour package, the cost will be part of the total fee you paid up.

Before you start the trip to Grouse Mountain, remember that the activities are not the same for summer and winter. You could pay the same admission fee, but the itinerary may not be similar.
