Bandar Seri Begawan, otherwise known as Bandar or BSB, is the capital city of Brunei. There are quite a few museums around the city and a definite must-see is the Royal Regalia Museum.

Getting There
The easiest and by far the most affordable means of getting around the city is via a public bus. You can hail one of the buses from practically any point in the city and they will also drop you off at any point on the route that it is plying.

A tour of the Royal Regalia Museum in Bandar Seri Begawan – Brunei will provide you with a glimpse of the country’s Constitutional history, in particular, the proclamation of Brunei’s first written Constitution which took place in the year 1959.
The Constitutional History Gallery, set-up at the left section from the main entry point into the museum, exhibits the development of the Constitution starting from the year 1847.
Documents and photos are among the items on display in this part of the museum.
On the right section of the museum is the crème de la crème of the exhibits here. This displays various items depicting the life of the Sultan, from his early childhood up to the time of his coronation.
The centerpiece is the Royal Chariot used during the Sultan’s coronation. Also on display are His Majesty’s bejeweled crown, accessories used during the coronation ceremony plus the many gifts that the Sultan has received from various dignitaries all across the globe.
There is also a short film showing about the coronation ceremony.
Brief History
The Royal Regalia Museum in Bandar Seri Begawan – Brunei was established in the year 1992, as a tribute to the Sultan for the Silver Jubilee of his succession to the throne.
The museum was constructed on the same site as that of the Winston Churchill Memorial Building. The building was re-named as the Royal Regalia Building and renovations as well as extensions were made to accommodate the new museum.

The Royal Regalia Museum in Bandar Seri Begawan – Brunei is open from Thursday to Saturday, from 8:30 in the morning up to 5 in the afternoon. Fridays, it is open from 9 in the morning up to 11:30 in the morning and again from 2:30 in the afternoon up to 5 in the afternoon.
Visitors will be asked to take off their shoes before being given entry into the museum. There are lockers for your shoes and other belongings. Picture-taking is not allowed inside the museum.
