Location

The Zoological Center of Tel Aviv-Ramat Gan – Israel is also known as the Ramat Gan Safari. Judging by the name, this zoological center is located in the city of Ramat Gan in Israel’s Tel Aviv district. The city itself is located on the eastern section of the district. It is also home to two of the major diamond exchanges in the world.

Getting to the Ramat Gan Safari won’t be too much of a challenge for any tourist. Their official web site even has an interactive map where you can trace your route. You basically get to the safari slash zoological center by bus. Visitors may hop on a bus in Tel Aviv with lines 65, 55, 43, and 35. Visitors may use a private car, mini train, or golf cart to get to the safari. Tourists and visitors may rent the said vehicles.

Sights and Attractions

The main attraction of the Zoological Center of Tel Aviv-Ramat Gan – Israel is the safari itself. It covers a total land area of about 250 acres. The animals here wander freely and live in their natural habitats. Tourists of course get an interesting opportunity to see them roam around and live their lives without human interference.

This zoological center is home to about 1,600 species of animals. There are 130 different types of fowls, 68 mammal species, and 25 different kinds of reptiles. All these animals represent the different life forms from around the world. The safari itself also participates in international programs dedicated to preserving endangered species.

History

The Zoological Center of Tel Aviv-Ramat Gan – Israel traces its origins to 1951 when the National Park was established in the city. This fledgling project was part of a plan to create a green belt all around the city. A zoo was established a couple of years later. Plans to create a nature reserve on a part of the area covered by the park were hatched in 1970.

Cost

Visitors to the Ramat Gan Safari will regularly have to pay NIS 55 as entry fee. However, senior citizens, handicapped, and local residents will get discounted prices. Another way to get a discount is to visit the place in groups of 20. Each member of the group can get a discounted entry fee worth NIS 48. Visitors who don’t have their own private car can rent one of the available vehicles in the safari for NIS 7.

Additional Information

Do take note that children above the age of two are required to pay for the entry fee. At times, a proof of the child’s age will be requested by the attending staff. Also, take note those who have availed of membership in the Zoological Center of Tel Aviv-Ramat Gan – Israel may tour the safari in an unlimited number of times. You may register for membership during weekdays and pay the corresponding membership fee.
